As the holiday approaches we moms tend to think about everyone else and their needs, but we tend to forget about ourselves. No matter how old our kids get, they are our number one reason we try to make this and all holidays special.
I love the holiday season and the joy it brings to people. People seem to be in a better mood, the holiday spirit is just about everywhere. Family gatherings, special events and activities are what I look forward to during this season.
Here are some ideas that might help you through the holiday season:
1. Write down in a journal what makes you happy. This will help on days that you feel overwhelmed. Writing down affirmations also helps lift your mood. Write down wins that you have accomplished because it will remind you how far you’ve come. Write down goals and dreams. Add pictures of people and places – I feel that this helps me visualize my how and why I do what I do. If I see a quote I like I will write it down in my journal and how it makes me feel. I find simple things and absolutely try to see the good in everything.
Planning activities is also a way to make sure we make the most of our time. There are two activities during the holiday season that are a must do for me and the kids. Family pictures and gingerbread houses with my parents, cousins and their kids. Everything else that comes up is a plus but I don’t over stress about doing more activities. Sometimes just a random get together with friends and family without planning seems to workout better than a planned one. Plus everyone has busy schedules and I have learned from experience that trying to get friends together on a specific day and time sometimes gets overwhelming.

2. Book a massage– yes do it!! Especially if you have been doing all the shopping and wrapping all the gifts. I personally book my appointment after Christmas and before New Year’s Eve – it is a present to me from me. I have used Hand and Stone services for a long time and I like the services they offer.
They also offer monthly memberships with discount prices. I personally don’t have a membership because I don’t go every month so it doesn’t work for me. When it comes to memberships don’t rush to sign up. Two important things to always consider when looking into any membership are: a.) are there any cancellation fees and b.) what kind of notice do you need to give in order to cancel the membership.
3. Go on a hike. Whether it’s on your own or with your girlfriends, connecting with nature is the best medicine. It could be your first time hiking or you are an expert, the experience is always unique and fulfilling. Don’t know where to start or where to go? You need to check out AllTrials app. I’ve been using it to find awesome new trails as well as helping me find specific information about them like the difficulty or if they are pet friendly. Click here to check out the app and let me know if you find it useful.

4. Make yourself happy by working on things that will make you feel good about yourself. No one told me about hair loss after having kids. I would have loved for someone to warn me about this when I had my first child (and somany other things that happen after you give birth) I read about Picasso Scalp Micropigmentation a painless procedure that can help women feel themselves again. Whether hair loss is from postpartum or from stress this place can help you get your confidence back! Check out any SMP location near me to book a consultation today.

I hope this post helps you in some way. May this holiday season brings you joy with your love ones. Remember your kids don’t need a perfect mother with perfect activities they just need a happy mom to be present, don’t forget that. Do what makes you happy! Don’t be scared of the changing season and what it brings, change is good sometimes. Enjoy the good because it is temporary and don’t worry about the bad because it is also temporary.
